If you had to quantify the difference between flirting and having a fling what would the difference be? what if it was on line? Which do you find more enjoyable flirting or looking for a fling?

Hello all, This is a blog of questions; whimsical, deep and delving. I will ask them, and I hope to have random people answer them anonymously. Most will be of a sexual nature, but I am not looking for pornographic material just honest opinions or facts. This is a public site so keep your posts as academic as the censors would appreciate:) If you feel you need to say something but are pretty sure it should be said in private feel free to email me your response.

Flirting is generally harmless...in my opinion. I flirt a lot...but that's just how I am. Not so much now, because I'm not around as many men as in college, but I still like to get my flirt on.
A fling begins once one starts physical sexual activity (i.e. kissing or whatever). Before that it's just flirting.
hmmm...it's definately a fling if there's sexual contact. But what about virtual contact--photos, videos,...that's murky. It seems like intense flirting still, but it's on the verge of a fling. If there's no actual sexual contact, but someone cums b/c of the sexual content of the flirting, it's very close to a fling. Seems like a fine line to draw...
flirting on line, or via text messaging, etc, is fun., and in a sense, innocent. No chance of part A getting inserted into Part B if the only connection is a USB port, so if the strict definition involves actual contact, anything online is innocent. But I have to think that often, it's just prolonged foreplay, leading into a fling, possibly. (For everyone except me, that is.)
..Flirting is enjoyable, i guess, but i don't really do it consciously often. If I do consciously flirt, I'm probably open to at least some cuddling, if not more. I'm never successful at looking for a fling, so I'm really not sure about that..
do you define fling and affair and relationship differently?
I guess I do. A fling is quick, fun--not an emotional attachment. An affair involves emotional attachment as well as possibly/probably physical--although that may not be an essential component.
Or am I making this harder than it is?
i guess i was not thinking of adultury when i wrote this question. I tend to not really believe in it anyway so that aspect slipped my mind. to me there is being open and honest and lying as that i am not a religious person per say none of that drivel means much to me. so take fling as in a relationship not hidden from anyone else:) However i do think that you can still have a fling with you long term relationship even if its as simple as a vacation where you rediscover each other or recenter.
Anyway I am not a flirt;)
yeah, you can have a fling with a long term relationship, and that's probably a really good thing to do--and i wasn't thinking adultery as much as levels of intimacy, which seem to be a component in all this
